Fontaines D.C. debut new song ‘Happy For You’ at Leeds Festival

Fontaines D.C. debuted a new song, ‘Happy For You,’ during their headline set at Leeds Festival on August 29, according to NME. The performance took place on the festival’s main stage, now called The Grid, at Bramham Park.

The track is set to appear on the band’s upcoming fifth album, ‘Dopamine Chamber,’ which is due for release on October 16 through XL Recordings. NME described the song as a slow, bittersweet number about accepting the end of a relationship.

The band had originally planned to play the song at Reading the night before, but that set was delayed by technical and logistical issues and three songs were removed from the lineup, including ‘Happy For You.’ At Leeds, the band also performed ‘Big,’ which had also been cut from the earlier show.

‘Marianne’ and ‘Six Shot Morning,’ two other songs from ‘Dopamine Chamber’ that have recently been in the setlist, were also played. Fontaines D.C. recently returned to the stage after the death of longtime manager Trevor Dietz in June, and the group has announced a UK and European arena tour in support of the album.
