Maricopa Unified School District will host its fourth annual College & Career Expo on Oct. 20, giving students a chance to learn about college, job, and training pathways after high school, according to InMaricopa.
This year’s event is expanding beyond previous versions, which were held at school campuses and mainly geared toward high school students. MUSD says the expo will now be open to students across the district and will take place in the evening at the district office.
Emily Maxwell, MUSD’s director of K-12 College and Career Readiness and CTE director, said students often walk away from these events with options they had not considered before. The district’s career and technical education programs include automotive technology, aviation, culinary arts, engineering, network security and app design.
Central Arizona College is among the participants, along with other colleges, local businesses and industries being brought in with help from Arizona@Work, according to the district. The expo will also include information for parents about the Free Application for Federal Student Aid, with help available for families who need assistance filling it out.
The College & Career Expo is scheduled from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Oct. 20 at the MUSD District Office, 44150 W. Maricopa-Casa Grande Highway. The event is open to the community.
